Mildred’s Fountain

Mildred’s Fountain
Take a single drop of water
Trail it down three fountain tiers
If you can, repeat this often
‘til it disappears
Maybe it will find a mountain
Once it turns to air
Change again while falling down and
Be a snowflake there
This is a gift from Mildred’s fountain
Far from old Crown Hill
Life seems to lift from Mildred’s fountain
And it always will
Take another drop and listen
As it splashes, laughs and lands
If you can repeat this often
‘til it’s in your hands
Maybe it will cleanse your fingers
Linger in your skin
Let it penetrate and you’ll hear
Whispers in the wind
This is a gift from Mildred’s fountain
Here at old Crown Hill
Life seems to lift at Mildred’s fountain
And it always will.
Sit beside the spills and bubbles
Near the Crown Hill chapel door
Let the water cool your troubles
‘til they are no more
Maybe you will feel your spirit
Rise above the tiers
Eyes will dry and you will hear it
“No more need for fear”
This is a gift from Mildred’s fountain
Saved for old Crown Hill
Life seems to lift off Mildred’s fountain
And it always will.
