A Little More Country

A Little More Country *

Started the day that there FM station
Went off the air
And came back changed
Noticed right away, a new DJ
And how different the singers
All seemed to sang
Turned up the volume
Squinted our eyes
And then we started to hum along
That’s when it hit us
To all our surprise
We were diggin’ a country song
And now we’re gettin’ to be
A little more country
Every, every day
It don’t bother me
As long as the music
Has got a feeling
And a message to say
Whatever they sing
Tugs my heart strings
And it’s always gonna be that way
Cause we’re getting’ to be
A little more country
Every, single day
Then was the time
We saw big ol’ Willie
Strummin’ with a harp in his mouth
Wasn’t too long
Before we were silly
And packin’ to move down South
Ran down a skunk
Around Waco, Texas
When the car died
We settled right there
Except for that night
The thing that relaxed us
Was breathin’ that Waco—
Country Air
Chorus
Been quite a while
Since we left the city
Wonder if we went too far
Live off the land
With only one pity
Our radio broke
Along with our car
The best thing about
Our new way of livin’
Besides bein’ friends with raccoons
Is even though
Our old radio’s broken
We’re gettin’ real good
Makin’ up our own tunes
That’s cause we’re gettin’ to be
A little more country
Every day in every way
Don’t bother me
As long as the music
Has got a feeling
And a message to say
Whatever we sing
Tugs my heartstrings
It’s always gonna be that way
Cause we’re gettin’ to be
A little more country
Every, every day
Yeah, a little more country
In every cottin’ pickin’
Finger lickin’ ol’ way
Hey!
