So Much String
She was the best cloud you floated in on
In the big blue sky we have flown
A gentle mental wind that you knew
A hurricane since she’s been gone
With her feet on the ground
And you in the sky
She kept you lit high
As a Franklin kite
Whenever the winds changed
The higher you flew
As long as you held on
To her hold on you
So why must what goes up, come down
Is there no longer such a thing
As a blissful beating heart?
If it’s the only reason why
The Lonely cry when they sing?
Might as well go fly a kite
All the while remembering…
We’re only given so much string.
